Regeneration literally means to be "made alive" or to be "born again". It represents a spiritual transformation where a person is made into a "new creation" in Christ.

• A Transformed Heart and Nature: Regeneration involves a substantive change in a person's inner spiritual condition. It is often described using the biblical imagery of God removing a callous, unresponsive "heart of stone" and replacing it with a living "heart of flesh" that possesses new desires. This transformative work liberates a person from the bondage of sin and awakens their soul to the things of God.
• A New Kinship and Family: The concept of a "new birth" is heavily tied to adoption and entering a new family line. Regeneration grants a person a new "familial pedigree," giving them the ascribed honor and right to officially become a child of God.
• Spiritual Resurrection: It is the miraculous impartation of spiritual life to a person who was previously spiritually dead (separated from God), bringing them out of darkness and into a living, restored union with Jesus Christ.
