Hebrews is a good example of an anonymous work. Unlike other epistles, Hebrews does not begin with a salutation that identifies the author. It also is made in a unique style from the rest of the New Testament. The early church fathers had diverse opinions on the authorship. Various theories have been proposed, examples such as Paul, Luke, Apollos, Clement of Rome, Barnabas and Priscilla, but none have gained universal acceptance.
